Help

Help with Taqly

These answers cover common synchronization, backup, privacy, and data management questions.

How does iCloud synchronization work?

iCloud synchronization is optional and remains disabled until you enable it. When enabled, Taqly stores supported synchronized data in the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account.

If changes have not appeared on another device, confirm that both devices use the same Apple Account and that synchronization is enabled in Taqly.

What data syncs with iCloud?

When iCloud synchronization is on, Taqly syncs the work you create:

  • Spaces, Sections, Groups, and Entries, including their fields and choices
  • Databases, their Sections, Records, and fields
  • Links between Entries and Records
  • Saved Filters and Inbox items
  • Pinned sidebar items, pinned Sections, and custom sidebar symbols and colors

Some settings stay on the device where you choose them:

  • App settings
  • Whether each Space, Database, or Filter opens in Table or Planning view
  • Highlight Empty Cells on a Table column
  • Color From for a Space's Summary
  • Automatic backup settings
  • The Spotlight search index, which each device builds for itself

Backup files are not part of sync. If you save them to iCloud Drive, they are stored there as ordinary files. Your Taqly purchase belongs to your Apple Account, not to iCloud sync. To get it on another device, use Restore Purchases in Settings.

How should I back up my work?

Use the Backup controls in Settings to create a backup file. Store that file somewhere you control, such as iCloud Drive or another secure location.

Backups and exports stored outside Taqly are not automatically deleted when you erase data from the app.

How do I erase my Taqly data?

Open Settings → Privacy and choose Erase All Taqly Data….

Taqly removes its local data, related preferences, and Spotlight search index. When iCloud synchronization is active, Taqly also requests deletion of its private CloudKit data.

What are Taqly AI Files?

Taqly can create files locally for use with an AI assistant when you choose to export them. Taqly does not send those files to an AI service itself.

If you share a file with another service, that service's terms and privacy policy apply.

Where can I find the complete guide?

Open Settings → Help inside Taqly for instructions covering Spaces, Entries, databases, Filters, backups, synchronization, Shortcuts, and data management.

Privacy policy

Your information stays under your control.

Effective September 24, 2026

Taqly is developed by Andrew Appleby. This policy explains how the Taqly application handles information and how this website processes information submitted through its support form.

Information handled by the Taqly app

Taqly does not require an account and does not contain advertising, third-party analytics, or third-party tracking. The developer does not operate a server that receives or stores your Taqly content.

Taqly processes the information you create, including Spaces, Sections, Groups, Entries, databases, Records, and Filters. It also stores app settings and preferences.

This information is stored on your device. If you enable iCloud synchronization, supported app data is also stored in your private iCloud database.

iCloud and CloudKit

iCloud synchronization is optional and remains off until you enable it. When enabled, Taqly uses Apple's CloudKit service to synchronize supported information through the private database associated with your Apple Account.

The developer does not receive or have access to records in your private CloudKit database. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's privacy policies and terms.

Turning synchronization off stops future synchronization after the app reopens. It does not automatically delete existing local data or information already stored in iCloud.

Apple services used by Taqly

  • CloudKit and iCloud for optional private synchronization.
  • iCloud Drive when you choose it for a backup or exported file.
  • Spotlight and Siri for supported on-device search, suggestions, and shortcuts.
  • Shortcuts when you run a Taqly App Shortcut.

Taqly does not contain third-party advertising, analytics, or crash reporting software development kits.

Backups, exports, and AI Files

Taqly creates a backup or export only when you request one. You choose where the resulting file is stored or which application or person receives it.

AI Files are created locally. Taqly does not automatically upload them to an AI assistant or another external service. If you share a file, the receiving service's privacy policy applies.

Deleting your information

Use Settings → Privacy → Erase All Taqly Data… to delete the app's local data, related preferences, and Spotlight index.

When iCloud synchronization is active, the process also requests deletion of Taqly's information from your private CloudKit database.

Files previously saved or shared outside Taqly are not automatically deleted. Delete those copies from their saved locations yourself.

Permissions and choices

You control whether to enable iCloud synchronization, create or share files, run Shortcuts, or use other optional system features. System permissions can be reviewed in the Settings application on your Apple device.

App Store privacy disclosure

Taqly does not collect information from the app for advertising, analytics, tracking, or developer-operated services. Information voluntarily submitted through this separate website support form is not collected from within the Taqly app.
